Roseville Electric will provide 21 trees to Roseville High School to replace those trees cut down by vandals earlier this week.
‘We are dismayed by this vandalism,’ said Roseville Electric Director Tom Habashi. ‘These trees were not only healthy, but the shade from the trees was helping to reduce the school’s cooling costs. Under these circumstances, it’s only right that we replace what’s been lost.’
Roseville Police believe sometime during the evening of June 9 and early June 10, vandals entered the high school campus and cut down 21 trees on the campus. Most of the trees are located in the school’s interior areas and cannot be seen from the street.
Many of the trees that were cut down had been given to the school in recent years through Roseville Electric’s Shade Tree program. The program, which provides free trees to residential and business customers, helps reduce cooling costs by shading homes and businesses.
