Roseville City Manager Announces Retirement

Roseville City Manager Ray Kerridge announced his retirement today, effective December 31, 2015.

“I had been contemplating retirement for some time, but my recent car accident and the uncertainty over how long my rehabilitation will take have accelerated this decision.  Consequently, I want to give the Council as much notice as possible of this impending transition,” he said.

Assistant City Manager Rob Jensen has been serving as Acting City Manager since the car accident last month, and Jensen will continue serving in that role.

Kerridge sent this letter to the City Council.

July 8, 2015

Dear Mayor Garcia and City Council:

After a fulfilling career of 45 years in public service, I have decided to retire from the City of Roseville, effective December 31, 2015.  As several of you are aware, I had been contemplating retirement for some time, but my recent car accident and the uncertainty over how long my rehabilitation will take have accelerated this decision.  Consequently, I want to give the Council as much notice as possible of this impending transition.

It has been both a privilege and an honor to work with you and our staff as your City Manager, and my time with you will always rank as the foremost in my career.  When I joined the City in 2010, the Council tasked me with implementing the Downtown Specific Plan, rebuilding the executive team and bringing staff morale up to its previous level, putting the City back on a firm financial and budgetary footing after the recession, reorganizing the City departments to better meet future needs, bringing the west side annexations to a satisfactory conclusion, and enhancing customer service.  I believe that all of these things and more have been accomplished.  Consequently, now is probably the best time to announce my intention to hand over the reins to a new leader.

I look forward to providing any needed support to the Acting City Manager during the remainder of the year to ensure a smooth transition to the next City Manager.  And, once again, I appreciate the opportunity that you have given me to serve this dynamic city.

Sincerely,
Ray Kerridge
City Manager
