Peace, Love & Great Brews in the Rocky Mountains
Alpine, Wyoming- Nestled on a scenic peninsula along the outdoor recreation paradise known as Palisades Reservoir, lies Alpine, Wyoming. A small, rural community with big adventures resides along the southern edge of the Snake River Canyon. Tourists often find themselves discovering this recreational gem as a waypoint en route to Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
It’s also here in scenic Alpine where one may find themselves discovering the convergence of craft beer and reggae music amidst a bucolic backdrop in the Rocky Mountains. Rocklin residents, Aron and Lindsay Culver recently had the opportunity to visit Reggae in the Rockies, we’re happy to share their experience below.

Reggae in the Rockies
The venue, located at the deservedly popular Melvin Brewery in Alpine, WY, was perfect for this event. The staff, food trucks and brew were top notch. The scenery around the outdoor stage, against a lake, next to the Snake River and surrounding mountains was spectacular. Those staying for both days camped outdoors in trailers, cars, and tents, right behind the stage.
The vibes were inviting with peace and love in the air coming from great musicians on stage and friendly faces all around. There were many families with small children, cute dogs roaming freely around, and all the laid-back colorful people you’d normally see at such an event.
We got to meet Karim, the lead singer of Arise Roots, as he greeted us friendly by the Cajun Food truck after his performance. He was a warm presence. We shared with him that my brother and sister-in-law thought of his band as one of their top reggae bands and we just had to see them. They were right. Although we only stayed for most of one full day, they were our favorite, amongst all great musicians. We talked him into buying the Cajun Catfish sandwich since it was the food truck owner’s favorite and mine, it was off-the-hook delicious.
One last bit of positivity was the indoor live performances set against the massive brewery kettles in the background. The indoor performers played in between sets from the outdoor performers. This gave us a chance to get out of the sun for a bit, order some excellent brew inside all while listening to more, non-stop music.
The venue, the artists, the spectators, and the vibes…we enjoyed them all. 😊

Reggae in the Rockies is a collaborative annual event between Gray Bear Productions and Melvin Brewery.
