Helping local neighbors during the holidays

Roseville, Calif., – Placer Food Bank (PFB) shares three key ways to help neighbors in Placer, Nevada, and El Dorado counties this holiday season.

Helpful Way #1: PFB’s Online Food + Fund Drive

Contributions made via our online drive transform $25 into food for 75 individuals. Donating is simple, impactful, and incredibly vital! Donors can choose to donate a preselected amount of food or create their own custom donation. Donations can be made at https://donate.placerfoodbank.org/for/pfbnew

This time of year, PFB is often asked about accepting food from the community, such as turkeys or canned food. We don’t accept community food donations due to decreased efficiency, potential food safety concerns, and our limited manpower available for sorting.

Helpful Way #2 The Giving Machine at the Roseville Galleria

The machines will be located at the Roseville Galleria from November 16 to December 10 near the Promenade entrance. Shoppers can donate specific food and hygiene items to PFB by selecting a virtual item on the machine’s touchscreen. The items will then be purchased by PFB and distributed to our neighbors in need.

“We are so grateful for the community’s support of our Giving Machines,” said PFB Executive Director Dave Martinez.

“These machines are a fun and easy way to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are struggling to put food on the table.”

Helpful Way #3 Neighbor to Neighbor Program

Recently, several neighborhoods in the communities PFB serves have come together to collect financial contributions for fresh produce and pantry foods, which are then made through our online portal. Take the Miners Ravine community in Roseville for example. In 2022, they came together to raise $10,000.

“Every dollar we receive helps us provide food assistance to our neighbors in need,” said Martinez. “We are grateful for any amount of support.” For those interested in giving, please contact Lisa Heinrich, Director of Development, [email protected]
