New beginnings at Roseville City School District

Registrations, Projects & Excitement for the New Year

Roseville, Calif.- There’s something about January that screams “fresh slate” Maybe it’s the cold, calm mornings or the post-holiday break energy of our students, but each January feels like a new beginning, even though it’s often mid-way point for our school year. Students and staff are excited to see each other, new projects and units are kicking off in each classroom and our District is preparing for the 2022-23 school year.

Our first undertaking in preparation for next school year is student registration. This year’s priority registration window runs January 3 -28, 2022 and we’re encouraging all families to register early. This helps secure your students’ seats and allows us to optimally staff our classrooms and school sites.

Supporting community

Before we headed out for winter break, members of our community and RCSD staff joined together for the Tommy Apostolos Fund annual holiday shopping for RCSD students. In December, volunteers took to the aisles of Kohl’s in Roseville to select items for children in need. Nothing warms my heart more than watching these volunteers perform this act of kindness for our students year after year. Thank you to the Tommy Apostolos Fund and all the volunteers for supporting students when they need it most.

Our District is also a proud participant of the Roseville Holiday Food Basket Program in partnership with Placer Food Bank. This program identifies and sends holiday meals to RCSD families in need during the holidays, a time when each of our students deserve to break bread with their families despite challenging circumstances. Thank you to our staff and volunteers from the Placer Food Bank who help make this program a reality.

As we charge forward into 2022, I’ll be hanging on to the positivity these programs bring to my mind and heart. I encourage all of our staff, families and students to focus on the good in their lives and what brings them a sense of positivity. Throughout 2022, RCSD will continue to focus on the emotional and mental wellbeing of students and staff, checking in with each other and sharing in kindnesses that promote connection. We’re all in this together.
