Westfield Galleria at Roseville will reopen Tuesday
On Monday evening, a large number of shoppers and music lovers congregated in the second story food court for a well-publicized Sacramento Choral Society performance planned for 7:30 p.m. At 6:45 p.m., the Roseville Police and Fire communications center received reports that people in the food court heard popping noises and felt floor movement.
Roseville police and fire personnel responded, and out of concern for public safety, worked with Westfield security to evacuate the mall. Shoppers exited in an orderly manner, and no injuries were reported.
City engineers and Westfield engineers responded to take a look at structural integrity, and confirmed the mall is safe for occupancy. The movement felt was not entirely unexpected for what was occurring inside, they said, and the mall was still below capacity.
