Roseville, Calif.- The Roseville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 10:24 a.m. today. The fire was located at the Autumn Oaks Apartments, 1451 Kingswood Drive.
When firefighters first arrived, they found smoke and flames pouring out of the attic vents of a two story apartment building. A second alarm was called immediately and ultimately a third alarm was requested due to the size of the fire and the potential for it to grow much larger. At the peak of the fire fight flames were literally shooting through the roof.
Residents safely evacuated the building prior to the arrival of Fire Department personnel. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Several resident pet dogs and cats also made it out of the building safely due to the quick actions of the residents and firefighters.
The three alarm fire involved several firefighting resources including, 6 engines, 3 ladder trucks and 6 chief officers. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Rocklin Fire Department. Additional engines from the South Placer Fire District, Rocklin Fire Department, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and Placer County Fire/CAL FIRE were moved up to Roseville fire stations in order to maintain coverage throughout the City.
The apartment building contained eight units in total. Two upstairs units sustained significant fire damage. Damage in the remaining units was limited to smoke and water.
Chaplains and the American Red Cross responded to the scene to provide support and assistance to the eight families displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
