Group drinking

Placer County record as toughest in state for DUI Convictions

Roseville, Calif. – The holidays are a time of celebration. A gathering of friends and family that often includes the traditional social lubricant known as alcohol. People enjoy a good buzz.

Sadly, the holidays are also a time when easily preventable tragedies occur when those who celebrate with alcohol or drugs decide to get behind the wheel. Fatal crashes involving alcohol are up during pandemic.

It’s important to recognize before your first drink that alcohol directly impairs the region of the brain that makes that wise decision to either get a ride or not drink. With each drink, your rational decision processes rapidly degrade not matter how great you feel. The consequences can be fatal to you and innocent people.

Planning Ahead is Key

If you think there’s a chance you’ll be drinking, plan to get a ride. The cost of ride sharing, taxi or a phone call is nothing when compared to the costs of potentially injuring or killing others.

Celebrate Safe, Get Home Safe

If you plan on partying it up this New Year’s or any other day, have fun and be freaking smart. Plan ahead, celebrate safe and get home safe.

Make the wise choice and hopefully the worst consequence may be nothing more than a hangover.
