The City of Roseville has received a formal invitation from the Tournament of Roses Executive Committee to enter a float in the 2009 Rose Parade. The invitation kicks off a nine-month process in which the City of Roseville will select a float design, raise $200,000 for float construction and gather volunteers to work on the float. The City has begun a “Pennies for the Parade” drive which will allow residents and businesses to donate funds for the float.
According to www.tournamentofroses.com, the Rose Parade telecast is viewed by 40 million Americans and seen in 115 countries.
Roseville celebrates its 100th anniversary of its incorporation on April 10, 2009 (the 100th day of the year), and this event is an ideal way to gain national exposure and to kick off the city’s Centennial Celebration, which will consist of community events and activities celebrating Roseville’s history.
