Roseville Police officers arrested three men on suspicion of attempted murder and participating in a drug deal. After a drug transaction and an argument, one of the parties is suspected of driving up onto a sidewalk and hitting one of the suspected sellers with his Jeep, sending her to the hospital with serious injuries.
At 4:48 p.m. on Monday, October 20, Roseville Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a female pedestrian hit by a Jeep SUV in the 300 block of Gibson Drive. After hitting the woman, the Jeep SUV hit a power transformer box, causing an hour-long power outage on Gibson Drive. The Jeep’s occupants fled the area on foot. The pedestrian, a 28-year-old Marysville woman, was taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with serious injuries, including broken bones She has since been released from the hospital.
Roseville Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VNET) investigated the case. According to their investigation, the involved parties, none from Roseville, met in a parking lot on Gibson Drive to complete a drug transaction, and argued over money. The Marysville woman and one of the men walked away. Alex Jeffrey Childs is suspected of then getting into his Jeep, driving up on the sidewalk and hitting the woman with his vehicle, then fleeing.Â
On Friday, October 24, Roseville Police detectives arrested Alex Jeffrey Childs, 20, of North Highlands on suspicion of attempted murder, attempted drug trafficking, conspiracy, and violation of probation. He is being held without bail in the Placer County Jail. Officers arrested John Wallace Lewis Jr., 36, of Marysville on October 20 for parole violation. The Placer County Jail has transferred him to state custody. Officers arrested Thomas Jay Croff, 25, of Yuba City on October 23 on suspicion of transportation and sales of narcotics, conspiracy, and parole violation. He is being held without bail in the Placer County Jail.
Roseville Police has asked the Placer County District Attorney’s Office to consider charges against two other people involved in the incident.
