At 2:39 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007, the Roseville Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a pedestrian vs. big rig collision on westbound Interstate 80 near the Lead Hill Boulevard overpass. Upon arrival, the fire department determined that the pedestrian had died as a result of the collision.
Preliminary investigation at the scene led the CHP to believe that the pedestrian purposefully entered the roadway. The investigation was turned over to the Roseville Police Department who arrived and determined that a suicide had occurred.
The victim is a 26-year-old male from Sacramento. At this time, officers are interviewing possible witnesses and continuing to investigate. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
