Roseville, Calif. –ย Placer County Sheriff detectives arrested the man believed responsible for the gruesome double homicide that occurred in Roseville last June, where the victims had been shot in the head and were found burning in a man’s front yard.ย ย 

Joshua Daniel Smith, 38, of Sacramento, was booked at the Placer County Jail in Auburn today. He was transported from the Sacramento County Jail, where held been held on other charges since last July. A no-bail warrant for his arrest was issued by Placer County in February.ย 

Smith’s victims were Jason Benson, 33, and Warren Galsote, 34, both of Sacramento. They were found late in the evening of June 25, on Annabelle Avenue in Roseville. A homeowner saw a fire in front of his home, and when he attempted to extinguish it, discovered that it was two men who’d been lit on fire. Both men later died at a local hospital.ย 

Smith became a suspect early on in the investigation. Today, he was booked on two counts of homicide with special circumstances. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, March 21 and he is being held without bail. Smith’s mug shot will be released once he completes the booking process later tonight.
