At 10:53 p.m. last night (Saturday, September 22), Roseville Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1600 block of Sierra Gardens Drive.ย  The male involved had pushed the woman, and was reported to be very intoxicated and armed with a baseball bat.

As officers were responding, the man fled on foot through the residential neighborhood.  A resident in the area reported seeing him running and holding a gun.  Officers located the man in the 1700 block of Tanglewood Lane and attempted to take him into custody, but he resisted and got into a physical altercation with one of the officers.  The other officer at the scene, fearing for the safety of his fellow officer, shot the male suspect.

The male, Paul Lawson Storey, 35, of  Roseville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Roseville Police Investigations Unit, and the investigation will be monitored by the Placer County District Attorney’s Office according to the department’s protocol for officer-involved shootings.  The two officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, also according to department protocol.
