A Roseville man was arrested by awaiting Placer County sheriff’s deputies as he left an Auburn electronics store Wednesday night with two boxed cameras stuffed down the front of his pants.
Andrew Charles Areshenko, 28, was watched by security officers at the Best Buy store on Bell Road as he placed cameras inside his jacket. While security called deputies to the store, Areshenko went inside the men’s restroom with the merchandise. Deputies waited outside the store for the thief to exit. When Areshenko saw the deputies and one canine officer, he ran back into the store. He ignored orders to stop and began running. He was soon apprehended by deputies inside the store.
A deputy stated that Areshenko had a “large, square bulge in the front of his pants.” Two Nikon Coolpix cameras, valued at $560, were recovered. Areshenko was booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of burglary. His bail was set at $135,000.
