On September 18, 2010 at 8:30 p.m., a 36 year old male pedestrian was crossing Auburn Boulevard from the south side of the roadway to the north side at Pasadena Avenue.  The pedestrian had crossed the eastbound lanes and was standing in the two-way left hand turn lane waiting for westbound traffic to pass.  A 1996 green Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup was traveling eastbound on Auburn Boulevard; the driver turned into the two-way left hand turn lane in preparation to make a left turn onto Pasadena Avenue where the pedestrian was standing.

The Chevy struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.ย  Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle which was not completely accurate. Approximately 2 hours later, the suspect’s sister called the California Highway Patrol and advised that her brother was in a traffic collision at this location and he left because he was scared.ย

Interviews were conducted and Balraj Grewal, a 28 year old male from Roseville was arrested for felony hit and run.ย

The pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing.  He was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with major injuries.

This collision is still under investigation.
