Joshua David Brown, 22, of Roseville, was arrested at about 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, on suspicion of starting a grass fire in the open space area next to Woodcreek High School. He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $250,000 bail, and was scheduled for arraignment.

At 2:03 p.m. that afternoon the Roseville Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the field next to Woodcreek High School. The fire was reported to be about 2 to 3 acres and moving fast toward Mahany Park and Bear Dog Park. It took about 35 minutes for the fire department to contain the fire, which ignited one power pole and was stopped before it reached Bear Dog Park.  In total of 17 fire personnel responded to this incident.  One engine from Cal Fire also assisted.
 
Mr. Brown was observed by Fire Department personnel at the scene.  He was questioned by fire and law enforcement personnel, and was subsequently arrested for causing the fire.
