Roseville, Calif.- The fire department received a report today that a person was making his way through a neighborhood asking people if he could paint their address on the curb to “make it easier for the fire department to find them.” He also asked to inspect the fire extinguishers and presented paperwork from a neighboring fire department that recommended these actions.

While the fire department recommends that everyone makes their home and business addresses as visible as possible, we do not endorse door-to-door business practices like this and we urge our citizens not to fall prey to these kinds of schemes. The person soliciting business today was located by the police department and will be cited for soliciting business without a permit.

If you were contacted by this person, please feel free to call the fire department and report the event.

All Roseville Fire Department employees are required to be in uniform when addressing the public and will always have a valid city ID in their possession. If there is ever any doubt if someone is affiliated with the fire department, or if the fire department endorses a program, don’t hesitate to call our business office at (916) 774-5800.ย
