Unanimous city council vote to dismiss

Roseville, Calif.- During a Nov. 4 closed session meeting, the Roseville City Council voted 5-0 to dismiss City Manager Craig Robinson.

According to the terms of his contract, the City is obligated to pay Mr. Robinson either a lump sum severance or provide 12 months notice of termination.  The Council voted 4-1 in favor of dismissing Mr. Robinson upon 12 months written notice as provided under his contract. This means as of today, Mr. Robinson is no longer serving as an active employee and his severance will be spread out over 12 monthly payments of salary and benefits as required by his contract.

Last week, on Oct. 29, City Council appointed Mike Shellito interim city manager, who has committed to this role through December 31. Shellito has requested he not receive any additional compensation during this period; he will serve as interim city manager on a month-to-month basis beginning Jan. 1, as needed, until the permanent city manager is selected by Council.

At the meeting, City Council approved a contract to hire local firm Bob Murray & Associates to start a nationwide search for a new city manager.
