ROCKLIN WRITER NOMINATED FOR MAJOR COMIC BOOK AWARDS
ROCKLIN, CA: Marie Taylor of Rocklin, co-writer, and Frank Espinosa of Los Angeles, artist and writer, have been nominated in three categories for an Will Eisner Comic Book Award for their work on Rocketo: Journey to the Hidden Sea, a new sci-fi adventure comic-book series published by Image Comics. Rocketo is eligible for awards in Best New Series, Best Continuing Series and Best Cover Artist.
The Will Eisner Comic Book Awards, the most prestigious competition in the industry, recognize creative achievement in comic books. Each category is nominated by a five-member panel, voted on by comic-book professionals and the awards are presented at the annual Comic-Con International convention held in July in San Diego, CA.
Frank came to me nearly ten years ago with the idea for the Rocketo story, said Marie Taylor. He is an extraordinarily talented artist and its been a great experience working with him on developing this exciting adventure series.
Rocketo tells the story of Rocketo Garrison, a world-famous explorer and mapmaker, and set 2000 years in a mythical future. The critically acclaimed series has been lauded for its innovative and ground-breaking art. The first seven issues of Rocketo have recently been released in trade paperback format which is available through Amazon.com and area comic book stores.
Frank Espinosa is a world-class animator and during his tenure at Warner Bros. redesigned the Loony Tunes characters in 1992 and created the popular series of Looney Tunes US Postage stamps. Marie Taylor is a creative writer, poet and fine artist. She is the owner of Taylor Strategic Marketing, a local consultancy.
