On Sunday, November 6th, a Rocklin resident saw a parked vehicle in her neighborhood that she did not recognize. She telephoned Rocklin Dispatch and responding officers caught a 19 year old Roseville resident red handed, literally, as he was vandalizing a bridge with spray paint.
The observant resident spotted a white Mazda near the bridge at China Garden Road and Hidden Glen Drive at 3:48 PM and the responding officer surreptitiously watched a male tagging (spray painting with graffiti) the underside of the bridge. Upon contact he was found in possession of several cans of spray paint. A search of his car provided other evidence of tagging.
Dustin Jeffrey Gerkhardt, 19 years, of Roseville was arrested for felony vandalism and was booked in the Placer County Jail.
Rocklin Police suggest that all Rocklin citizens notify the police department when suspicious activity or vehicles are seen. In this case, a call to Dispatch netted a felony arrest.
