Rocklin, Calif.- The explosive device reported in the parking lot at Sunset and Park in Rocklin has been rendered safe and removed by bomb technicians of the regional Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit.

Police officers cordoned off a large section of the parking lot from vehicle and pedestrian activity while EOD responded and inspected the device. All business activity has returned to normal.

Earlier this morning Rocklin PD received a call from a citizen who saw a suspicious device resembling a home made pipe bomb in the parking lot behind Bank of America and the Arco AM/PM gas station. Officers roped off a safe distance around the device until bomb technicians could respond. EOD officers neutralized the device in-place and then removed it for forensic examination at the crime lab.

Rocklin PD will be conducting a criminal investigation into the origin and placement of this device.
