On May 25th, Rocklin Police Officers arrested a man for shooting and killing a dog that belonged to him.
At about 8:50 AM on Sunday morning officers responded to the 5700 block of Casa Grande Avenue in response to a call from a resident in the neighborhood reporting that she had heard several gun shots. Officers contacted a 76-year-old man at his residence and started an investigation which led to the discovery of a deceased 6-month-old German Sheppard in the backyard. The dog had suffered gun shot wounds to its head.
Officers arrested Argene Corbett Millard, 76 years, of Rocklin for animal cruelty and negligent discharge of a firearm. He was booked into Placer County Jail and was later released on bail.
Eleven other dogs were taken from the residence and put into protective custody. The dogs included another German Sheppard and Chihuahuas. They were transported to the Placer County Animal Shelter.
