Rocklin, Ca- Vince Amado, Rocklin City Treasurer and Farmers insurance agent in Rocklin, has died at age 61. He died on December 29, 2007, of cancer at his Rocklin home with his family.

Vince graduated from Riordan High School in San Francisco in 1963 and attended San Francisco State where he received an Associates Degree in Horticulture in 1970. He began his insurance career in San Francisco with New York Life in 1970.

Vince married Helga Albright in San Francisco in 1971. The Amado family moved to Rocklin in 1978 to raise their sons David and Jeffrey. Vince continued his insurance career in Rocklin and opened his own Farmers insurance agency in 1981. Vince served as the elected Treasurer for the city of Rocklin for over 20 years, having been re-elected five times. He has served on the board of directors of the California Municipal Treasurers Association (CMTA) for many years and was the current Vice-President and Legislative Representative. Vince also represented CMTA on the League of California Cities Revenue and Tax Committee. 

An active Rotarian, Vince held numerous positions in the Rotary Club Rocklin/Loomis Basin and served as the club president in 2002-2003. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and supported Rotary projects locally and the eradication of polio world wide.  He was a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society of Life fundraiser in Rocklin. He served on the local organizing committee and would personally raise hundreds of dollars to support the event annually.

He is survived by his wife Helga; sons David and Jeff; daughter-in-laws Gabriela and Destra; sister Lorrie Perry and brother-in-law Bob; sister Rita Nelson and brother-in-law Roger of Sacramento; and three grandchildren Lucas, Alissa and Logan. He was preceded in death by sister Cecilia Scarpulla.

Friends are welcome for visitation on Monday, January 7, 2008 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Lambert’s Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd., Roseville. There will be a funeral mass at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Granite Drive in Rocklin to be followed by interment at the Rocklin Community Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at the Rocklin Sunset Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rotary Club of Rocklin/Loomis Basin, Vincent Amado Memorial Scholarship fund at P.O. Box 666, Rocklin, CA 95677.
