The Rocklin Police Department is partnering with the Sierra College Auto Club and local businesses to address the identification issue by hosting a free catalytic converter etching event on Saturday, March 8, 2014, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Sierra College campus (auto shop), located at 5000 Rocklin Road, Rocklin, CA 95677. This will be the sixth “Etch and Catch” event the Rocklin Police Department and Sierra College Auto Club have hosted since February 2012.
During this event, the vehicle’s license plate number will be etched onto the catalytic converter, the area around the etching will be painted for high visibility and easy recognition, and each vehicle will receive a small window decal stating “This Vehicle’s Catalytic Converter Has Been Etched by the Rocklin PD.” These steps can deter thieves and provide police with investigative information to identify stolen property and victims, and prosecute criminals. The event is open and free to residents and vehicles of all cities.
How to Schedule an Appointment:
Please access our special etching website at www.etchrocklin.com to schedule an appointment. If you do not have access to a computer, you may call (916) 660-7121 and leave a message. You will receive a call back and an appointment will be scheduled.
During the Etch and Catch event, a charity drawing will be held in support of FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN, a local non-profit organization. This organization provides foster and adoptive homes for children who find themselves, through no fault of their own, in foster care. They also provide short and long term placement and adoptive services for those foster parents who choose to become the “forever family” of the children in their care. All proceeds from the drawing and any direct donations will be donated to this organization. Prizes for this drawing have been generously donated by the event sponsors.
