The public is invited to the Jan. 27 grand opening ceremony of the Martha Riley Community Library, Utility Exploration Center (UEC) and Roseville Community Television studio.  The event is from 11 a.m. ย– 5 p.m., 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd., and will begin with a dedication by officials, followed by an open house to the public. Refreshments and children’s play areas will be provided.

Recycled materials were used in the construction of all three facilities, and the building is LEED-certified, meaning its materials, emissions and energy consumption meet stringent federal standards for energy-efficient buildings.

The Martha Riley Community Library is Roseville’s third branch, its collection emphasizes green technologies, complementing the local history materials at the Downtown Library and human cultures focus at the Maidu Library.  Amenities include six big-screen televisions, a teen gaming area, an indoor tree for children to read under and community atmosphere.

The Utility Exploration Center provides an interactive, educational environment where visitors can learn about resource usage, conservation and energy awareness. High-tech video displays convey the impacts and opportunities of everyday lifestyle choices associated with resource consumption. The first of its kind in the nation, the UEC is especially tailored for schoolchildren, yet carries a relevant message for all ages.

The Roseville Community Television Studio will offer a complete upgrade over the existing studio, with high-tech editing software and production equipment that will allow residents to create dynamic programming on local community-access television.

‘It’s exciting to see our vision become a reality,’ said Jim Gray, Roseville Mayor. ‘Education and conservation awareness are vital parts of maintaining our top-notch quality of life. These are excellent additions to our community, because they will empower our residents for years to come. We want the public to come out and see how incredible the new library, UEC and television studio are, and explore, learn from and enjoy these community amenities.’
