On Monday afternoon, October 22, Roseville Fire Department and neighboring fire agencies responded to and extinguished a residential fire in the 100 block of Kipling Court. Kipling Court is located in west Roseville, near Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Foothills Boulevard.
Fire crews responded at 2:26 p.m. to a single-story residence with a fully involved structure fire. It took approximately an hour for eight fire engines, two trucks, an air-fill unit and three chief officers from the Roseville Fire Department and the Placer County Fire Department to extinguish the fire. Units from Sac Metro Fire Department, Rocklin Fire Department and South Placer Fire Department helped by covering Roseville’s fire stations during the operation.
Two residents were home when the fire broke out, a 50-year-old man and his five-year-old grandson. A neighbor reported seeing the child crawling out of the residence. Both the boy and his grandfather were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.
Two cats died in the fire. Dogs that were in the backyard at the time of the fire were fine, although firefighters administered oxygen to one dog.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
