Two residents were home when the fire broke out, a 50-year-old man and his five-year-old grandson. A neighbor reported seeing the child crawling out of the residence. Both the boy and his grandfather were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.

Two cats died in the fire. Dogs that were in the backyard at the time of the fire were fine, although firefighters administered oxygen to one dog.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
