Roseville, Calif. – PRIDE Industries donated $3,548 to the American Red Cross, Placer District on Friday September 25 at PRIDE’s Auburn facility.ย  The funds will benefit victims ofย  the Auburn fire, including displacing a PRIDE employee whose home was damaged in the incident.ย

Over 90% of the funds were donated by PRIDE employees with disabilities at six of PRIDE’s offsite operations; Fairfield, Sacramento, South Sacramento, North Sacramento, Auburn and Grass Valley..  Each location hosted a BBQ on 9/11/09 to raise funds for the fire victims.  The events were attended by PRIDE employees as well as their family members, caretakers and service coordinators.  A small fee was charged to attend each BBQ, generating the monies raised.

‘Over 130 people came together and attended the Auburn BBQ as an inclusive, fun and affordable way to raise funds for the victims of this devastating fire’ said Melissa Sweet, PRIDE’s offsite manager for the Auburn Facility.  ‘We had an employee with a disability at our location directly affected and displaced from his home because of this fire, so everybody felt a strong desire to do what we could to help.’
