Auburn, CA- Placer County’s Administrative Services Department has again received national recognition for outstanding work in information and communication technology, and also for its procurement management policies.

For the fifth year in a row, the department’s Information Technology Division was honored through the Digital Counties Survey sponsored by the National Association of Counties and the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology practices and best practices in state and local government.

The IT Division was ranked 5th in the nation among counties with populations between 250,000 and 499,999.

To earn the ratings, counties had to demonstrate their use of technology in such areas as dealing with economic downturn, aligning IT strategic plans with the strategic business plan, and ensuring business continuity during disaster recovery.

The department’s Procurement Services Division earned the National Purchasing Institute’s Achievement of Excellence in Procurement for the eighth straight year, and is one of only 38 government agencies in California and one of 34 counties in the United States to receive the rating. The award is sponsored by the National Purchasing Institute as well as several professional government purchasing organizations, and is granted to agencies that exemplify innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership.

‘Being recognized for these national awards is an honor, and it is a reflection of our county’s commitment to provide the best service possible to the citizens of Placer County despite the economic challenges we face,’ said Clark Moots, Director of Administrative Services.
