Auburn, Calif.- For the 13th consecutive year, Placer County’s Procurement Services Division has received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, one of the nation’s highest honors for responsible spending practices.
The award is sponsored by the National Procurement Institute and a number of national and state partner associations. Placer County is one of only 49 government agencies in California and one of only 47 counties in the United States and Canada to receive an award this year.
“Being recognized for thirteen straight years as outstanding stewards of taxpayer dollars is a tremendous honor,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Kirk Uhler. “Our team of professionals that oversee our contracts and purchases deserve our thanks.”
“Over the years the Procurement Division has remained extremely focused on identifying new and innovative ways to streamline the purchasing process through the use of technology,” Director of Administrative Services Jerry Gamez said. “Receiving this award is clearly attributed to the dedication and professionalism of the entire procurement staff.”
Public agencies and nonprofit organizations are eligible for awards. They are judged on innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership.
Procurement Services provides centralized purchasing services for county departments and ensures timely delivery of products and services. Purchasing manager Brett Wood, named in the award, oversees a nine-member staff.
The awards program was created in 1995 by the National Procurement Institute.
