Pipeline water supply for the Auburn Water Treatment Plant

Auburn, Calif. – A major pipeline project is expected to impact traffic and business in the upper Lincoln Way area adjacent to Interstate 80.

The Placer County Water Agency project began this week and is scheduled to include both day and night shifts to reduce impacts on commerce in the area.ย  Contractor on the job is Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc. of Placerville.

The work involves a new 36-inch pipeline that will be the main water supply for the Auburn Water Treatment Plant on Ferguson Road.ย  The new line replaces an old pipeline that is leaking and deteriorating.ย

Pipeline construction is anticipated to begin in early February with final paving and cleanup by June 30.

The buried pipeline will run about 2500 feet within Lincoln Way from the area of the Sizzler Restaurant below Bowman Road to Foresthill Road and then to the water treatment plant site.

PCWA Director of Technical Services Brian Martin said the agency has been contacting residents and businesses in the project area to inform them of the work.

‘We are doing everything we can to minimize the construction impacts in the local area,’ said Martin.
