A Touch of Understanding’s Youth F.O.R.C.E. (Friends Offering Respect ~ Creating Empowerment) held its annual Paws with a Cause event on Saturday June 12, 2010, at the Olive Ranch School in Granite Bay. This community-oriented annual event promoted awareness of the importance of service dogs in the community and educated people about the challenges of disabilities.
The event hosted demonstrations by the amazing Disc Dogs of the Golden Gate; the Placer County Sheriff K-9 Unit; the talented students of Kovar’s Satori Academy, Katie Wilmarth and Tony Hughes. Paws with a Cause also had arts and crafts and carnival games for the entire family to enjoy. Not only did this event promote education and awareness, it was a way to show that people with disabilities don’t let the challenges of life stop them from achieving their goals!
A Touch of Understanding (ATOU)
A Touch of Understanding (ATOU) provides disability awareness programs designed to educate a new generation to understand the challenges associated with disabilities and to accept and respect all individuals. We’re a nonprofit organization comprised of dedicated individuals, some with disabilities and some without, who come together to form a strong team working to help students look beyond the disability, the wheelchair, the braces, the unpredictable behavior and see the person.
