Two Orangevale men were arrested by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies early Sunday morning for commercial burglary, conspiracy, resisting arrest, and possession of burglary tools.

Timothy Fredrick Gault, 28, and Derek Keith Berset, 27, were arrested at All Seasons Pools and Spas on Lincoln Way in Auburn when deputies responded to the business for a burglary alarm at about 4:30 AM.

The business manager had initially responded to the business after the burglary alarm was tripped early this morning. When the manager arrived he found the back door to the business forced open. He called the Sheriff’s Office to report the suspicious circumstances. Deputies quickly responded and discovered the suspects still inside the business. The intruders attempted to flee, but Gault was quickly taken into custody. Berset was able to initially elude deputies. A significant amount of stolen property from the business was recovered nearby.

Berset returned to the scene at 9:30 AM and was taken into custody by waiting deputies. Berset had returned to retrieve his passport and identification which he had left nearby during the commission of the burglary. Berset was also arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for burglary from El Dorado County and a Placer County warrant for driving on a suspended driver’s license and possession of marijuana.

Berset was in possession of a green mountain bike when he returned to the scene.Deputies believe it may be stolen and are asking anyone who believes they may have had their bicycle stolen from the Bowman area Sunday morning to call the
Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is continuing as additional suspects may be involved.
