Roseville, Calif.- Tuesday afternoon, Roseville Police Department officers arrested five people suspected of illegally purchasing large amounts of pseudoephedrine from stores in Roseville and Sacramento County.ย  Purchases of pseudoephedrine (brand name Sudafed), a nasal decongestant, are restricted by law, because the drug is a main ingredient used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

By federal law, customers must purchase the drug from the pharmacy counter, and must sign a statement acknowledging they have not purchased more than the legal amounts for a day or a 30-day period.

At approximately 1 p.m. on September 8, Roseville officers learned that a group of people had entered a local pharmacy together, and each person purchased a box of Sudafed.  A check of the pharmacy’s log revealed that one member of the group, Bryant, had made other pseudoephedrine purchases recently. The group got into a van together and drove away.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the van, and found dozens of packs of pseudoephedrine pills, purchased from numerous stores throughout Sacramento County. Five people were arrested.

Domenick Lacurt Bryant, 32, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine ingredients for sale, burglary, conspiracy, and violation of parole. He is being held without bail in the Placer County Jail.

His friend, Khia Danielle Urans, 24, of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of  possession of methamphetamine ingredients for sale, burglary, conspiracy, providing a false name, a Solano County warrant for aggravated assault, and a Sacramento County warrant for embezzlement. She is being held in the Placer County Jail on $90,000 bail.

Investigators believe that Bryant recruited the other three suspects Tuesday morning from the area of Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento, promising to pay them for a day’s work purchasing Sudafed. They are:

Clifton Eugene Sorrell, 54, of Sacramento. He was arrested on suspicion of
possession of methamphetamine ingredients for sale, burglary, conspiracy, and five Sacramento County warrants for drug-related charges. He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $80,364 bail.

Micheal Lauvon McCune, 55, of Sacramento. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine ingredients for sale, burglary, and conspiracy.  He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $190,000 bail.

Quincy Lamar Pierson, 32, of Sacramento. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine ingredients for sale, burglary, and conspiracy. He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail.
