A Meadow Vista man was arrested on commercial burglary charges following a chase by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday.

The suspect, James Everett Daniel, 30, was seen on surveillance cameras taking a chain saw at the True Value hardware store in Meadow Vista Monday afternoon. Tuesday morning, a man matching the suspect’s description was seen in front of a home on Volley Road in Meadow Vista. Deputies responded but when the suspect saw them, he ran into the nearby woods. Despite a search using a sheriff’s K-9, the suspect was not found.

A few hours later, a resident called 911 to report that a man, who matched the suspect’s description, was running through back yards on Volley Road. Deputies were still in the area and were able to catch up to Daniel inside a motorhome in front of the house on Volley Road where he was originally spotted.

Daniel was booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of commercial burglary, resisting arrest and for a $100,000 Placer County warrant for child endangerment.

His bail is set at $130,000.

Stolen property was found at the Volley Road property and was returned to the store.
