AUBURN — Directors of the Placer County Water Agency on Monday (Dec. 11) elected District 3 Director Lowell Jarvis to serve as PCWA board chairman for 2007.  He succeeds Alex Ferreira, of Lincoln, who chaired the board in 2006.

Jarvis, a resident of Ophir, is midway through his second elected term on the water agency board.  This will be his second term as board chairman.  Mike Lee of Loomis was elected as vice chairman for 2007.

As part of their annual reorganization, directors decided to hold their twice-monthly regular meetings at the PCWA Business Center on Ferguson Road, beginning with their next meeting.  In recent years, the board has met in the Board of Supervisors chambers.

In addition, newly-elected District 1 Director Gray Allen and reelected District 2 Director Alex Ferreira were sworn into office in a ceremony conducted by Placer County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar of Voters Jim McCauley.

In other business, directors:

  • approved a supplemental agreement with the City of Lincoln covering the upsizing of a new water line planned through the Bickford Ranch property.ย  The larger line will include carrying capacity for the city.
  • heard a presentation from Michele McCormick of MMC Communications in Sacramento regarding a potential public outreach program for the agency’s Middle Fork American River Project federal relicensing effort.
  • were introduced to new employees; Christine Demes, of Auburn, who joined the agency as deputy director administrative services, and Andrew Fecko, of Foresthill, who is employed as resource planning administrator.

Information on PCWA board meetings may be obtained through the Clerk to the Board at (530) 823-4850.
