Lincoln, Calif.- An early afternoon argument between two friends in Lincoln ended with one female hospitalized and another in jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 1:53 p.m. from a female who said she’d been shot several times by another woman and she needed medical help. Deputies found the victim lying near the side of the road. Marcella Jeanette Thompson, 37, had been shot in the chest, arm and wrist and was transported by air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.ย

Other deputies found a woman matching the suspect’s description nearby. Marci Joy Rice, 54, was taken into custody and is being booked at the Placer County Jail. The two women live on the same property on Gage Lane and were involved in an argument. The situation escalated and Rice reportedly grabbed a 22-caliber rifle and fired three shots at Thompson.
