Rocklin, Calif.- At about 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8th, Rocklin Police Officers spotted a vehicle that had been stolen out of Roseville in the area of Sunset Blvd. and Pacific St in Rocklin. As the driver saw officers, he immediately sped away and tried to elude them by speeding through the parking lot of The Big K and onto area streets. Officers gave chase.
After about 7/10 of a mile, the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control of the Chevy Suburban and spun out. Pursuing officers surrounded the vehicle. The driver jumped on the throttle and accelerated into the front end of a Rocklin patrol car causing significant damage. He then fled on foot in the 6000 block of Kingwood Circle, which is a residential area. The short foot pursuit ended with the suspect being tasered as a result of him resisting arrest. He was taken into custody.
The suspect, Andrew Michael Lynn, 21 years, of Sacramento was arrested for felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and a parole violation.
As of this writing, he had not been booked into Placer County Jail and bail has not been set.
The officer was not injured. The patrol car, which suffered significant damage, was the police department’s newest addition to its fleet.
