The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has received several inquiries about employee internal investigations and a federal subpoena.

Due to legal constraints, we are unable to discuss the nature of these allegations. There is no intent to withhold information from the public, but it’s our legal obligation to keep this information confidential.

The employee investigations and the federal subpoena are not related. However, we take all allegations against our employees seriously but these allegations must be kept confidential, according to state law. If criminal conduct is found during an internal investigation, we have and will continue to promptly forward the case to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Our office was recently served with a federal subpoena. The subpoena specifically states that this office is not allowed to discuss this matter with anyone. Federal subpoenas are commonly served to the lead representative of the agency. However, this does not mean that the administrator served is the focus of the subpoena.
