Placer County Sheriff’s detectives are searching for the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Sacramento man that occurred late last night in west Roseville.ย

Around 11:30 p.m., the 21-year-old victim was walking with friends to a large party on Lanie Court.

Early investigation indicates that words were exchanged between the victim and a group of people in an older white sedan. The driver of the sedan exited his car, walked up to the victim, and stabbed him three or four times. He then drove away.

The driver is estimated to be 18 to 22 years old. Detectives do not believe the parties were known to each other and the stabbing does not appear to be gang-related. The name of the victim will be released once his family is notified.

Detectives would like to speak to the passengers in the suspect’s car, since they may not have known the stabbing occurred because the contact was brief. They are urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 530-886-5375.

Anyone else with information is also asked to call. Those wishing to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 should call Placer County Crime Stoppers at 800-923-8191 All information remains confidential.
