Roseville firefighters responded to a house on fire yesterday in the 1800 block of Finch Drive. Initial reports were that an elderly woman was trapped in the fire and screaming for help.

The first arriving fire engine was on-scene in approximately 5 minutes and quickly located the elderly woman and removed her from harm. Her care was given to AMR ambulance and she was transported to the hospital as a precaution for possible smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were then able to focus on extinguishing the fire that was located in the garage and attic of the home. The main portion of the fire was quickly extinguished, but due to the construction materials of the roof, very extensive overhaul was required.

Because of the work required, a 2nd alarm was requested which brings additional firefighters to the scene. A total of 30 firefighters were utilized to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and believed to be accidental. Aside from the occupant, there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
