Random vehicle search for drugs

On December 19, 2008 at approximately 1030 hrs. Corporal Westgate and his K-9 partner Diva arrived on a Rocklin school campus to conduct a random drug search of vehicles parked in the student parking lot. Several vehicles were screened by the narcotics detection K-9 and one vehicle in particular Diva alerted on.

A search by registration was conducted and a student associated with the vehicle was contacted. During the search of the interior compartment of the vehicle officers located approximately 13 grams of processed marijuana and a digital scale. There was also an open container of alcohol located in the vehicle. All the involved parties are minors and the investigation is ongoing.

The Rocklin Police Department and the Rocklin Unified School District will be taking the appropriate actions when the investigation has been completed. Over the past three years the Rocklin Police Department in conjunction with the Rocklin Unified School District have conducted random searches of several Rocklin campus where narcotics have been seized.

Diva is a black Labrador and has been with the Rocklin Police Department for 3 years and over the past 12 months has located Marijuana, Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Heroine on approximately 100 separate incidents in the City of Rocklin.
