Late afternoon on Oct 3, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department received information about possible criminal misconduct by one of our employees. The nature of this information alleged that one of our deputy sheriffs may have had unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 18.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Department took this allegation very seriously and immediately began an investigation into the alleged activity.

The involved officer is identified as Deputy Michael Stuart Johnson, 26, a two year employee with the sheriffs department. Deputy Johnson’s most recent assignment was with the Colfax Sub-station as a patrol deputy.

Placer County detectives conducted a thorough investigation and developed probable cause to charge Deputy Johnson with unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Deputy Johnson was arrested for 261.5 PC and booked at the Placer County Jail. The case will be submitted to the Placer County District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
