Gary Maack, of Roseville was the unidentified passenger onboard the plane that crashed and killed two in Rio Linda on Sunday morning. He was 53 and is survived by his wife Tammy, and two sons Brandon (9) and Andrew (29).
The pilot killed in this morning’s private plane crash has been identified as reserve deputy sheriff Dave Michaud. He served the Sheriff’s Department as a deputy sheriff from 1984 through 1996. During that time, he had assignments at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, the Main Jail, and Patrol. He retired from the department to pursue his other passion, aviation, as a pilot in the private sector. He has been a reserve deputy for the Department and has continued to provide service since his departure in 1996. He was 53 years old.His wife, son, and stepson currently work for the Sheriff’s Department; his wife as a detective, his son in records and stepson as a deputy sheriff.

The family has declined to provide any public statement at this time, and requests privacy during this tragedy. As more information becomes available, it will be released.
