Facility Services employee arrested on embezzlement charges

John Alcocer, 38, of Plumas Lake, was taken into custody at the Western Regional Sanitary Landfill on Athens Avenue, Lincoln, where he was employed. An investigation into the charges began when a contractor noticed unusual activity related to Alcocer’s work.

This was reported to Placer County Facility Services employees who launched an investigation and forwarded their findings to the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department conducted an additional investigation and made the arrest.

The fraud investigation is still ongoing, but detectives believe Alcocer stole $2,000-3,000 per month over the past three or more years.
