This morning, the United States Supreme Court sided with Hobby Lobby that employers with religious objections can opt out of providing contraception coverage to their employees. Dr. Ami Bera who represents California’s 7th Congressional district in Congress, offered the following comment:

“I’m extremely disappointed with the Supreme Court’s decision in the Hobby Lobby case this morning, which sets a dangerous precedent of putting employers in charge of their employees’ personal health care choices. Women and their doctors should be able to decide what kind of birth control is right for them, not bosses or politicians, and as a doctor, I’m fighting against these kinds of intrusions into the exam room. I hope my opponent will join me in condemning this attack on individual freedom.”

Dr. Ami Bera represents Sacramento County in Congress. He’s working to make Congress a place for service and fighting to rebuild an economy that works for middle class families. As a leader of the No Labels Problem Solvers, Bera is leading the charge to find bipartisan solutions to our nation’s challenges.
