With a boost from additional funding, Seniors First will continue operating its senior nutrition programs established to provide seniors with hot meals and daily social interaction.

MyMeals, the most recent addition to the extensive list of senior-focused services offered by Seniors First, is a subscription-based delivery meal program targeted to homebound seniors and those recuperating from recent illness, hospitalization or convalescence.ย  The program serves the residents of Lincoln and Auburn.

Senior Cafรฉs are neighborhood sites that provide hot, nutritious noontime meals to seniors for a nominal donation.ย  Operated by Seniors First staff, the cafรฉs are bright, cheery locales where seniors can gather for lunch in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

Through Placer Community Foundation, the Leo W. Ryan and Geraldine Suskin Community Fund granted $1,000 to Seniors First to fund both of these senior nutrition programs.ย  “We know there is tremendous need for nutritional intervention in our community and are thrilled to be in the position to help seniors in need.ย  We are especially grateful to our local community foundation for their efforts in supporting our senior nutrition programs,” commented Seniors First Executive Director Jamee Horning.

Seniors First is always in need of friendly, dedicated volunteers and financial support to underwrite programs and services for Placer County’s elderly and their families.
