A woman whose body was found Monday morning near Walerga Road has been identified and a Roseville woman is in custody for her murder.
The victim, Alicia Ernst, 24, (birth date: 05-26-83) of Citrus Heights, was found by a Placer County public works employee around 8:20 a.m. Monday, in a ditch near the roadway.

Placer County Sheriff”s detectives canvassed nearby neighborhoods and were able to locate witnesses who placed Stephanie Nicole Erends (03-07-83) in the area where Ernst’s body was found. Through further investigation, enough probable cause was established to connect Erends, 25, to the murder of Ernst.
Erends was booked at the Placer County Jail on one count of homicide and is being held without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
