Christopherson Homes will integrate renewable energy technology and high energy efficiency measures as a standard option in 127 homes set to open this October in West Roseville. Christopherson Homes becomes Rosevilles first participant in the Blueprint for Energy Efficiency and Solar Technology Homes program, which was approved by the City Council last week.
Rosevilles innovation to encourage renewable energy technology and high energy efficiency measures as a standard feature in new home construction reduces our need for peak demand while continuing to provide outstanding service to our customers, said Mayor Jim Gray. BEST Homes is yet another example of Rosevilles leadership in supporting sustainable initiatives that provide environmental, social and economic benefits to our residents.
BEST Homes proposes that up to 20 percent of all new home construction include integrated rooftop solar generation, high energy efficiency measures and participation in the Citys Shade Tree program as a standard feature. Through BEST Homes, Roseville Electric is offering up to $8,530 in rebates to new home construction developers for each dwelling unit that includes the BEST Homes features.
We wanted to work with the City of Roseville, as they are known for their innovative programs. After careful review, this Best Homes program offers our customers the most comprehensive environmentally friendly package in the region, added Bob Rispoli, purchasing manager for Christopherson Homes.
Christopherson Homes The Arbor at Fiddyment Farms is the first new BEST Homes neighborhood. Located in West Roseville, The Arbors will offers three to six bedroom homes in the mid $500,000s. Models will be open in October 2007.
As a family owned and operated homebuilder, we feel this BEST Homes program from the City of Roseville demonstrates our commitment to being on the cutting edge of environmental consciousness and energy savings for our homeowners, said Diana Sanger, Christopherson Homes sales and marketing director.
The City Council adopted the BEST Homes program as way to reduce Roseville Electrics peak load demand and minimize the impact on our environment while maintaining highly reliable and dependable service levels.
Over the next decade, Roseville Electric anticipates that 3,200 residences will be BEST Homes and will save up to 14 million kWh of energy annually. In a new era of environmental responsibility, the energy conservation realized from BEST Homes will mean new residents will not generate 62,000 tons of emissions. The environmental impact is equivalent to planting 44,000,000 trees! BEST Homes also helps Roseville Electric achieve its Renewable Portfolio Standard goal to increase its use of energy from renewable resources.
Depending upon individual habits, BEST Homeowners can expect to lower their electric consumption up to 50%. That translates into lower monthly bills for those customers. Homes with rooftop solar and higher than average energy efficiency measures are attractive to homebuyers not only for the lower utility bills, but the increased value of the home. And finally, the reduction in energy needs means Roseville Electric spends less in purchasing energy now and in the future.
Roseville Electric, the City of Roseville’s award-winning electric utility for the past 95 years, provides its 50,000 customers with reliable energy and dependable service at some of the lowest energy rates in California. Roseville Electric strives to achieve a sustainable energy future for its customers by investing in clean, renewable energy projects and energy efficiency programs.
