The Roseville Police Department is investigating serious injuries to a three-year-old boy.ย  A live-in babysitter has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and related charges.

At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, Roseville Fire Department paramedics and police officers responded to a residence near South Cirby Way and Wildwood Way for a medical emergency involving a child.  The child had suspicious injuries on his back. He  was stabilized at a local hospital and then transferred to a pediatric hospital in Sacramento.

Investigators believe that the injuries occurred while both parents were at work and the child was in the care of a live-in babysitter.  Investigators believe that the babysitter, while intoxicated, scalded the child with hot water as a form of discipline for misbehavior.

The babysitter, Samuel Charles Flores, 23, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and willfully causing traumatic injury to a child.ย  He’s being held in the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail.
