Suspect Arrested in the Carjacking and Kidnapping case

Placer County Detectives have arrested Rick Anthony Cooley (aka Hernandez), DOB: 11/09/1978, from North Highlands. Cooley has been identified as the suspect responsible for assaulting and kidnapping a 35 year old Roseville woman earlier this morning and stealing her vehicle.

At approximately 7:00 am Cooley was involved in a minor traffic accident with the victim on Vineyard Road in un-incorporated Roseville. While the victim was out of her vehicle Cooley struck her with his fists and pushed her into to own vehicle. After driving the victim around the Placer and Sacramento County area for a few hours he released her near Duffy Lane and PFE Road.

The female victim received facial lacerations which required sutures. She was treated for her injuries and released.

Cooley had been discharged off of state parole in September of this year. The motives for his actions are unknown at this time.

Cooley has been arrested for Kidnapping, Carjacking, Robbery and Assault. He will be booked at the Placer County Main Jail and bail will be set at $200,000.
